Mission Statement
The Iowa State University Financial Counseling Clinic is a HUD-approved, nonprofit
organization dedicated to improving the financial wellbeing of ISU students,
faculty, staff and Ames community citizens through education and counseling
in the areas of homeownership, personal finance, and credit.
This mission is accomplished through the following objectives:
- Nonbiased financial information
- Providing financial options
- Highly trained counselors*
- Educational approach
- Affordable services
*Certified Financial Counselors have skills to assist individuals and
families in the complex process of financial decision making, including
the ability to:
- Educate clients in sound financial principles.
- Assist clients in the process of overcoming their financial indebtedness.
- Help clients identify and modify ineffective money management behaviors.
- Guide clients in developing successful strategies for achieve their financial
goals.
- Support clients as they work through their financial challenges.
- Help clients develop new perspectives on the dynamics of money in relation
to family, friends, and individual self-esteem.
