Graduate Programs Options

 

A. Degree Options. The department offers Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees.
The curriculum is structured to allow the graduate student to custom design his/her own program of study. Other than Core requirements, a student, with approval by his/her Program of Study (POS) Committee may select from all available graduate coursework to complete the degree. This flexible option is designed to meet the unique needs of our graduate students.
B. Areas of study include the following. A student may focus on an area or select across areas.

The College of Human Sciences offers a Master of Family and Consumer Sciences degree (non-thesis). Students may choose a specialization from the various departments within the college. The Department of Human Development and Family Studies offers these MFCS specializations:
D. Minors for HDFS Graduate Students
Graduate students may choose minors from many fields including anthropology, economics, gerontology, journalism, psychology, sociology, and statistics. The department also participates in several interdisciplinary programs including minors, specializations, and certificate programs.
