Life Span Development Signature Area

The signature area focus on Life Span Development considers human and family development to involve potential growth, decline, continuity and change throughout life with no single period in the life-span possessing a paramount influence on the course of development. The objectives of the Life Span Studies courses are to provide students with an in-depth understanding of life-span approaches, with experience in designing and conducting basic or applied research in childhood, adolescence and adulthood, and to assist them to function as a competent life-span specialist. M.S. and Ph.D. emphases in Life-Span Studies prepare students for positions in university teaching and research, adult and extension education, human service agencies, community programs and business.
