I was responsible for...
My responsibilities have been to attend meetings with case coordinators, staff, and new consumers. Also I have been responsible for filing, completing site checks with the supervisor, completing safety plans, assisting in day to day operations. I also have been responsible for supplies and making sure everything from the houses gets turned in on time. I have also learned how to complete incident reports and attend new training related to the field. Helping the supervisor get ready to implement managed care.

I accomplished...
I have become certified as a mandatory reporter, first aid CPR, and many other things that will assist me. Other accomplishments are learning how to fill out paperwork and documents such as incident reports and safety plans. I am working on becoming documentation review certified also.

I will never forget...
The most memorable experience I have had so far is when I go out to the homes and clients know me and are truley happy to see me. They tell me whats new in their lives and what they are going to do also they tell me thanks for what I do. I appreciate the idea that we have a good working relationship and what I am doing is affecting peoples lives positively.

A surprising discovery...
Something I did not expect was how some guardians treat their wards. Some treat them as burdens and just want to get rid of them. I think seeing this will make me more empathetic to certain consumers and will make me keep an open mind in when situations like that occur.

Advice for others...
Be prepared to use a wide range of skills, especially communication and scheduling. Be open minded and do not lose focus of the goal. Be persistent not everyone is helpful or as nice as you would like them to be.
