Becoming a positive, female role model for a student with a difficult home life. She was initially difficult to get to open up because she is painfully shy. From beginning our time together in August until now, she has done a complete 180 and now tells me everything and she feel comfortable enough to tell me about personal aspects of her life.
You aren't going to be able to save every child you come in contact with. Some people enter the program not wanting to change, and that is not a reflection of me. I've learned a way of thinking called "The Three Principles" that has changed that way I internalize situations in all aspects of life.
Advice for others...
Go into the program with an open mind. YJI talks endlessly about the Three Principles way of thinking. At first I found the whole process very strange and hard to implement in my own life, But keeping an open mind allowed me to understand it enough to see how truly helpful it is and I was able to implement it into my own life as well as teach it to my friends and family back home.
